We envision the day when every pet born has a good home and is cared for all its life, and no animal will suffer because of abuse, neglect or ignorance, and all citizens, their property and neighborhoods are safe from the dangers and nuisances of irresponsible pet guardianship.

The Department of Animal Services has several special funds set-up to accept individual gifts, donations, and bequests, that have been established within the Treasury of the City of Los Angeles to augment established programs and activities of the Department.

Animal Welfare Trust Fund

Donations to the Animal Welfare Trust Fund enhance the quality of life for shelter and other animals by funding animal supplies, medical equipment, improvements to Animal Shelters and other animal welfare-related projects undertaken by the Department of Animal Services.

The Spay/Neuter Trust Fund

The Spay/Neuter Trust Fund helps provide low/no cost spay/neutering services for pets in low-income households by contracting with mobile and stationary spay/neuter clinics.

The Star Program

The Star Program (Special Treatment And Recovery) program provides medical treatment to severely injured, abused, and neglected animals rescued by LA Animal Services.

The Community Pet Food Pantry

The Community Pet Food Pantry is a resource to ensure there is pet food available to assist owners who need help feeding their animal companions. The Community Pet Food Pantry will be based out of our East Valley and Chesterfield Square Animal Services Centers.

All donations are tax-deductible under IRS Code 170(c)(1) because LA Animal Services is a department of a municipal government. You may donate by cash, check, or credit card by visiting one of our local animal shelters, or you can mail a money order or check to the Administrative Office, payable to LA Animal Services, 221 N. Figueroa Street, Suite 600, Mail Stop #105, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

Donations made by mail or directly at an animal shelter can also be donated specifically for use at one of the animal shelters.

Even if you cannot make a financial contribution today, there are other ways you an help. Our animal shelters always need blankets, toys, and other items on our Wish List. And of course we always need volunteers!
