It’s Time to Turn the Clock Back One Hour and Ensure Your Pet’s Microchip and Licensing Information is Current!
Los Angeles, October 30, 2020 – With the end of Daylight Savings Time this weekend, LA Animal Services is reminding pet owners that when they set their clocks and change the batteries on their smoke detector batteries to also check that their pet’s microchip and licensing information is up-to-date.
“By ensuring your pet’s license and microchip information is current gives your pet the chance to return home, should they get lost or stolen,” said Brenda Barnette, LA Animal Services General Manager. “Sadly, one out of every three pets gets lost during their lifetime, but only one in 10 lost pets is found. Microchipping and keeping your information current could make the difference. In addition, a license tag provides a quick way of notifying you if someone else finds your pet, while also providing proof that your dog has been vaccinated against rabies, as required by law.”
Microchipping is permanent pet identification. The process is safe, simple, permanent, and designed to quickly identify lost pets and reunite them with their owners. The microchip, which is about the size of a grain of rice, is injected beneath the surface of the pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. The process is similar to a routine shot, takes only a few seconds and your pet will not react any more than to a vaccination. No anesthetic is required.
Microchips are offered at LA Animal Services for just $15. To schedule an appointment, call 1-888-452-7381.
