The Pet Care Foundation to Host Happy Furry Giving Adoption Event

Los Angeles, November 20, 2020 –Kick off the holiday season by adding a new furry friend to your family from LA Animal Services! The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation will sponsor the Happy Furry Giving adoption event from Saturday, November 21 through Sunday, November 22. Find your new furry friend by going online at laanimalservices.com to view all of our cats, kittens, and dogs, and watch The Pack that will be streaming this weekend on Amazon Prime Video with your new four-legged friend. During Happy Furry Giving, adoption fees will be reduced for dogs by $50. Adoption fees for cats will be waived by The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation and adoption fees for kittens will be waived through a generous grant from the ASPCA. While dog adoption fees are reduced, there will be a $20 dog license fee applied for residents of Los Angeles.

“It is our goal to find a home for every pet residing at LA Animal Services Centers,” said Bill Crowe, Director of The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation. “Start the holiday season off right by saving a life and adding a lot of joy to your family!”

“We have amazing four-legged friends who are ready to make their way to good homes in time for Thanksgiving, and who will provide you with unconditional love and laughs for years to come!” said Brenda Barnette, General Manager for LA Animal Services. “When you adopt from LA Animal Services, your new animal companion comes to you vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped.”

Adopt a pet from one of our Centers:

  • Visit laanimalservices.com/adopt and identify an animal you would like to adopt.

  • Call  888-452-7381 with the Animal ID number or A# (example: A1234567).
  • LA Animal Services will share all the information available on that animal.

  • If you’re interested in moving forward with the adoption, LA Animal Services will take your information and schedule a pick-up appointment.

  • During the appointment, staff will introduce you to your selected animal.

  • Please be advised that due to City order in response to COVID-19, no more than 10 people, which include staff are permitted in our facility at a time.

  • To comply with social distancing requirements, we will be scheduling appointments daily at our four LA Animal Services Centers from 11am to 4pm.

Adopt a pet who is currently in foster care:

  • Visit laanimalservices.com/pet-search and identify the pet you would like to adopt

  • Call 888-452-7381 with the Animal ID number or A# number (example: A1234567)

  • An LA Animal Services staff member will arrange for a meeting at the designated Animal Services Center or a virtual (video) meeting with the interested party (person interested in adopting) and the foster family of the animal in question, where the potential adopter can find out more about the animal, and see how the pet interacts with the foster family.

  • If the interested party would like to proceed with the adoption, an LA Animal Services staff member will facilitate the adoption process, which includes completing all the necessary adoption paperwork, collection of adoption fees, and then schedule an in-person appointment for the interested party to come into the designated Animal Services Center to meet and pick-up their new animal companion.

If you are unable to adopt a pet, please consider fostering one of our dogs, cats, or kittens in our Centers to give them a break from kennel life during the holiday season.

Due to the pandemic, our LA Animal Services Centers are open by appointment only.
