LA Animal Services to Open Community Pet Food Pantry on June 8

Pet Food Resource for City Residents Needing Assistance to Feed Family Pet

Los Angeles, June 3, 2020 — LA Animal Services is pleased to announce the opening of the Pet Food Pantry on Monday, June 8, 2020, providing a resource for low-income families and residents of Los Angeles experiencing financial hardship who need assistance to feed their animal companions. Residents interested in participating in the Pet Food Pantry must be the pet’s owner, and will need to register by going online to obtain an appointment at one of two locations: Chesterfield Square or East Valley. If you are unable to go online, you may call our Pet Food Pantry line for Chesterfield Square at 213-326-2788 or the Pet Food Pantry line for East Valley at 213-264-8985 to register and make an appointment.

“With the challenges many residents are facing due to the pandemic, feeding your furry family member should not be one of them, so we established the Pet Food Pantry to offer assistance to pet owners,” said Brenda Barnette, LA Animal Services General Manager. “We are grateful for the donations made by individuals and organizations, like the LA Chargers, who have donated directly to the Pet Food Pantry and companies, including Zignature, Wellness, Best Friends, and ASPCA who have contributed to the inventory of pet food making the Pet Food Pantry possible to serve the community.”

If you would like to contribute to the Pet Food Pantry, LA Animal Services is continuing to accept donations of unopened pet food, both bags and canned. Monetary donations may also be made directly to support the Pet Food Pantry by clicking here.
